WHY ARE YOU ALMOST ALWAYS IN A BAD MOOD?

Have you ever thought about what could be behind this constant bad temper? It could be more than just tiredness or stress… Discover its hidden causes and learn how to get rid of this weight!

You, who are constantly grumpy and carry an emotional and spiritual burden, have you ever wondered what may be behind this bad mood? There are many reasons, of course, but I want to discuss a somewhat unusual one, described in Psalm 32.

King David said:
“For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was turned into the drought of summer.” (Psalm 32:4)

David was referring to his sin of adultery – something that the Bible does not hide and that God made a point of registering for posterity. This sin, which David covered up for about a year, worked within him like an emotional and spiritual cancer, gradually consuming his joy, his lightness and even his strength.

He also said:

“Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no deceit.” (Psalm 32:1-2)

David compared his unfortunate condition of hiding sin with that of someone who had been forgiven by God and was free of this weight. He continued:

“When I kept silent, my bones grew old through my groaning all the day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was turned into the drought of summer.” (Psalm 32:3-4)

That is, while he kept the sin without confessing it, David felt as if his bones were ageing. He seemed to have aged ten or twenty years in just one year because sin punishes.

We can compare sin to a black hole: it has such a strong power of attraction that it sucks everything around it, even light. So is sin – it drains energy, good temper, joy, projects, and love for family members. It makes the person treat those they love badly and see evil in everything and everyone because they see others the same way they see themselves: dirty and guilty.

So, how do you change this mood? How do you get rid of this weight, this black hole that consumes your energy and that of the people around you?
David himself gives the answer:

“I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” And You forgave the iniquity of my sin.” (Psalm 32:5)

If you have covered up sins, you have been accused by your own conscience and by the devil; you need to understand something: the word “devil” means “adversary” but also “accuser”. What is his strategy? First, he incites the person to sin, making it seductive – it was like that with Eve. Then, when the person falls, he changes his strategy and starts accusing them:

“God will never forgive you.”
“Look how everyone judges you.”
“Run away because you won’t be able to stand this shame.”
“End your life soon.”

That’s exactly how David lived for a year. He tried to cover up his sin and, with each attempt, ended up sinning even more. However, the solution was so close!

That weight was removed when David finally confessed his sin to God and those to whom he owed an explanation. Yes, he still had to face the consequences, but there is a big difference between dealing with the consequences of sin with a clear and forgiven conscience and facing them while being stuck in guilt.

If you are in a bad mood because you feel angry with yourself, the way out is simple: be humble, intelligent, and wise. Do not follow your heart’s will anymore because it—corrupted—led you to sin. Listen to God’s voice. Confess your mistakes to Him and whoever is necessary.

And what will you receive immediately? Forgiveness and peace. With peace, healing will come, a change of temper, and the restoration of joy.

Even if others judge you – because people usually throw stones – there will be peace inside you. You will know you have already been acquitted in the HSC: the Heavenly Supreme Court.
