WHY DOES GOD ALLOW EVIL IN THE WORLD?

Learn how to make injustices a reason to get closer to God!

A young woman wrote to me asking for help: “I feel terrible seeing all the evil that happens in the world.” She spoke about how she felt watching the news, the deaths of innocent people, and a list of things that she felt were great injustices, without understanding why God allows all this. A piece of advice I gave to her, I give to you, too.

How often do we see injustices, get angry, and want to take justice into our own hands (which will usually result in injustice, too)? So, let’s think:

1) You should not watch everything published on social media and news.

This won’t be good for your mental health. I’m not defending ignorance; what I’m saying is that just as you don’t ingest garbage for your body, you shouldn’t ingest information that will harm your mind. And, because human beings are always inclined to bad news, they are the ones who give an audience. So, it seems that there are only bad things going on. But, thank God, there are good people and events. Those who judge the world only by the news are capturing a biased vision. So, you have to be balanced with what you consume.

2) Why do we feel this sense of injustice when we see wrong things happen?

This results from the fact that within the person, there is a vector that points to justice. We wouldn’t care about the world’s injustices if we didn’t have a “standard” of right or wrong. Within us, there is a natural sense of right and wrong. They are natural laws that God wrote in the human heart. Soon, you will understand that if I can perceive the injustices in the world, God will help me to see a little bit of what He sees in totality. He is omniscient and sees everything. Thus, we can feel a little bit of God’s pain.

You have to understand that we live in a sick world that has turned its back on God. This world is the result of this rejection of justice. Maybe you say, “Why do I suffer injustice if I live in justice?” The answer is that we live in an unfair world. How can you wear a white outfit and walk through the mud without getting stained? We live in a world of moral mud. The injustices of this world splash on the righteous.

Is God indifferent? Why doesn’t He interfere? God has already interfered and will interfere in the end. That’s why the Bible speaks of the “Final Judgment”.

The question you have to ask yourself is the following: what was the greatest evil ever committed in humanity? What was the cruellest act that human beings have ever committed? It was to have killed the Son of God. The human being did not suffer the greatest cruelty in this world, but God did.

The Text says: “He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him” (Isaiah 53:3). This is the reason why the world suffers: God came into the world, but the world did not pay attention to Him. However, those who go to Him receive forgiveness and peace. And, with peace comes hope. And so we trust that, in the end, justice will win. Our hope is not in some human being but only in Him.

If you don’t believe it, I understand why you suffer. It’s hard to live in this world without hope. But hope is renewed for those who believe in Him. This “Final Judgement” is getting closer and closer.
