WHY SHOULDN’T YOU SAY EVERYTHING THAT COMES TO MIND?

See what God says about certain words that people speak. Here's my tip for you: if you don't have anything good to say, choose silence

Should you say everything that comes to mind? Should we say everything we think? Some are so keen to say everything that comes to their mind. Some puff up their chest and say: “I say what comes to mind”.

Let’s see what God Himself says about certain words: “Your words have been harsh against Me,” Says the Lord, “Yet you say, ‘What have we spoken against You?’ You have said, ‘It is useless to serve God; What profit is it that we have kept His ordinance, And that we have walked as mourners Before the Lord of hosts?” (Malachi 3:13-14).

So, God is protesting that the people were using harsh words against Him. And it’s interesting when we think about God because He already knows what we think even if we didn’t say it. However, He makes a point of pointing out that the words of the people were harsh. This gives us the understanding that we often think nonsense but should not say it.

That is, it is one thing for you to think and toss this thought away (to tell yourself that it is not good); it is another to say something. Thus, you materialise your thoughts through the words, which are recorded; they are sound waves that travel. The music emitted by the radio waves is in the air, but you only hear them when tuned to a device.

Thus, God’s first complaint was regarding the people’s attitude of saying it was useless to serve Him. “We keep this discipline, do all this, and what’s the use?” Sometimes, the person loses faith because they take an action and does not see the expected result.

So, they think it didn’t work. This makes many turn against God. “It is useless to pray, go to church, live in obedience. Because I see that those who don’t do these things seem to do well out there…”. This is precisely God’s second complaint: “So now we call the proud blessed, For those who do wickedness are raised up; They even tempt God and go free” (Malachi 3:15).

These two thoughts, which were materialised in words, bothered God. This gives us a hint of how He feels when we think about something like that.

The result matters at the end of a game (in football, for example). The result of the situation of the just and the wicked is that the conclusion will favour the just. If you don’t believe it, you will stop playing and lose your salvation…

You must wake up to this understanding: giving up playing is the quickest way to lose. While the game is running, you have a chance to turn the game around. And, in God’s case, we have the guarantee that we will turn the tide. You may be suffering and the unbelievers laughing at you, but if you believe in the character of God, in your heart, you say: “It may be going all wrong, but I’m sure God will fulfil what He promised. In the end, we turn this game around.”

So, instead of harsh words, use words of trust in God. And also, be careful with the words in which you are aggressive with yourself. There are words like: “You’re no good. You’re worthless. You’ll never win. You have no way out.” Watch out! And if you don’t have something better to say, choose silence.
