WORST LIE IS THE HALF-TRUTH
This is the main agent involved in a lie disguised as a "half-truth". Pay attention to the deception that is supported by a biblical verse.
The worst lie is not the widespread one; the worst lie is the “half-truth”. Just like a wolf in sheep’s clothing, it’s a sophisticated lie. It has appeal because it has a background of truth. But many times, people, because they do not see the whole picture (like those who judge a book by its cover), embrace the “half-truth” as the entire truth and take home a very poisonous lie.
The devil works more with so called “half-truths” because an open lie is very widespread.
The Bible says: “And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14).
The devil specialises in deception; to deceive correctly, it is necessary to use a little truth with the lie. Therefore, the worst deceit is the one that comes with a biblical verse. The victims are usually those inconsiderate people (who do not go deeper in search of the truth) or those who want to hear what they like. Some people want confirmation of their biases and inclinations. For example, if the person tries to follow Jesus, the devil will present a “preacher” of the Word of God who will say precisely what they want to hear.
I remember in my adolescence, that I was shocked when I read: “But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matthew 5:28). Imagine a teenager with his hormones on edge and this word comes. So, I started going over the Bible and went to an evangelical bookstore to research the subject. I wanted to find a preacher who would tell me everything was fine and what my flesh liked to do. However, at that time, it was not like today (in which there are many “preachers” on the internet), and I only found preachers who confirmed that Word. And I had to choose between obeying or not following the Lord Jesus.
In this way, humans do not want to change; they do not want to be confronted, but God moves inside us. He changes what is in us, points out what is wrong, challenges us, and calls us to change. Thus, those who want to read the Word of God only in its pleasant parts are creating a religion for themselves.
The Word of God says: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers” (2 Timothy 4:3). I believe we have already arrived at this time. In the mid-80s, when I converted, I didn’t find “teachers” who said what I wanted to hear, but today you will find them. We are already in those times when Paul pointed this out to the young disciple Timothy.
Be careful with the “half-truth” because you will follow it to death and only find the truth when it is too late.
Think about it through the entire message in the video above.
