“He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler” (Psalms 91:4).

A “Buckler” is a shield covering the entire body. You still see this kind of shield in shock battalions nowadays. So, the psalmist says here that God will cover the one who dwells in His shelter, like the chicken that covers its chicks from under its wings. When a bird realises that there is a bird of prey, the mother covers the chicks under its wings in such a way that sometimes they are even invisible. It is very curious how the psalmist chooses this expression because God often leaves us invisible against evil.

This is a massive demonstration of care and love for those who chose Him as their home. The psalmist also speaks of the truth of the Most High. The Word of God is the truth. There is only one truth, which is God.

Nowadays, you hear many people saying “my truth”. But the truth is that what does not change, even if there are different points of view. A “point of view” is something loaded with opinions. Our baggage of experience makes us biased. We have tendencies. It is natural, for example, for a woman who has suffered with men to be sensitive to the subject. But a woman treated well by a man and has a good father does not have these same bad feelings. What changes are the experiences?

But God’s truth doesn’t change because He doesn’t change also. God’s principles and values are eternal and do not change with society. Society is changing. What was absurd 40 years ago is common today.

However, when you say “my truth”, it is probably a lie that you tell yourself. It makes you feel better, for example, making you look like a victim. It’s something that can dodge some responsibility you have. Creating a “truth” is more comfortable than facing “the” truth, which is God. The lie has changed its name. Today, it is called “my truth”.

So, run away from the lie. Seek the truth of God. Only in It will you be protected and safe.
